Private tutor in Santa Cruz, CA
I am a Senior Literature major pursuing my BA in Literature at UCSC in Santa Cruz, CA. My current cumulative GPA is 3.0. I'm concentrating in Modern Literature and have taken courses in the German Language as well as German Literature. The scope of my courses stretches from before 1600 up to the new millennium in World Literature as well as American canon. The Literature major at UCSC is rigorous and develops a student's critical perspective, analysis skills, and close reading ability. Key to this major is effective communication and clear organization of thoughts in written materials.
I have experience with tutoring high school students in a volunteering environment. This was a community learning center for all grades but I primarily assisted students in High School. Helping students then taught me that not only is tutoring a student very gratifying for me, but it is so helpful for someone when they learn how to communicate more clearly or analyze with more depth. Building these skills of reading and writing is something I try to excel at so that when someone I help needs to write a thesis or a proposal, etc, they will be confident and effective communicators. I very much enjoy reading for leisure when I can and what I read can really vary. I have a long list of books I want to read which I am steadily chiseling at and I frequently read online periodicals to stay informed, as time permits. Also, I sing and play percussion in a musical project I work with in my spare time. I also spend endless hours listening to music of all genres and eras but particularly to that of alternative music and classic rock.
