Cameron M.
Private tutor in Santa Cruz, CA
Education
Masters degree in Physics at UC Santa Cruz (2015). Now pursuing PhD. BS in Physics and Math from University of Massachusetts, graduated with honors (2013)
Experience
I have tutored math and science since high school, both one-on-one and in front of a full classroom. Currently, I am a teaching assistant at UC Santa Cruz and hold homework help sections as well as teach two lab sections. Since volunteering to tutor inner-city (Boston) children, I have confronted all types of obstacles. Now, I know the difference between a student faking an understanding, and actually grasping the material. There is no shame in revisiting the fundamentals! In my undergraduate career I took enough upper division courses to double major in math and physics. To receive departmental honors in physics, I wrote a thesis on my research in particle detection.

Hobbies
Although most of my time as a graduate student is dedicated to research, I enjoy running around Wilder Ranch and going for a swim. I have played drums for 15 years, and also enjoy recording music and learning about music engineering. Since moving to Santa Cruz, I took sailing classes and have enjoyed Monterey bay and it's wildlife. I am open minded and informal, but good self-discipline has brought me academic success thus far.
