I have over 25 years experience in software, engineering, and science work. I have recently taught computer programming at two local middle schools. One a weekly class lasting most of the semester, and the other a more intensive week-long summer session. I find it rewarding helping students succeed at their school work by finding and filling gaps in their understanding. I am not an educator by training, so I am often able to explain school subject matter by approaching it from a different perspective. Combining that with what the instructor is presenting in class can be very effective. I am currently employed at a local oceanographic institute as an engineer, working on a variety of science and engineering projects for the past 14 years. One of the enjoyable perks is leading groups of students on tours of the facility where they can observe their math and science lessons applied in fascinating and inspiring ways.
