Education
I majored in Physics at UC Irvine where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in 2010, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Physics at UC Santa Cruz in 2013.
Experience
While in my senior year at UC Irvine I was hired by the Physics Department to work as a peer tutor for an Introductory Physics course. While working as a department tutor, I also did private tutoring with several people for various college level math and physics courses. Upon graduating from UCI, I was hired as an educational therapist at the McNichols Learning Center and Dyslexia Foundation, where I taught various levels of elementary to college-level math and physics for learning-disabled students. I worked there for a year before coming to Santa Cruz for graduate school, having gained extensive tutoring and teaching experience with a wide range of age groups and styles of learning. I worked as a Physics TA for a year at UCSC (5 and 6 series introductory physics) while also taking on multiple students for private tutoring for physics, calculus, and GRE math. I have always had a passion for teaching, and I intend to become an educator professionally. Tutoring is not merely something I do for money, it's something that I love deeply! I am patient with my students, yet also challenge them to think for themselves instead of holding their hand through the whole subject. I do my best to incorporate different approaches and styles of learning to best match the particular student I am working with.
