Experience

I had the joy of working at Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz as an academic assistant/teacher in the Directed Studies Classroom for 4 years. This position required tutoring study strategies for ALL subjects 7th-12th grade. Since 2014, I have been a private tutor for middle school and high school students. My job is to create and implement learning strategies for each individual that I teach, from 7th grade math to AP English. My overarching goal is to show any student that their challenges can be overcome with a strong mind, even if their brains present challenges like ADD, Autism, other learning disabilities, or just typical student struggles. I believe in working just as hard as the students I tutor to demonstrate that they are never alone and we are "in this together". I have been tutoring in some capacity since I was in 5th grade, through middle school, high school, college, and post grad. I stay current with new teaching/learning studies and stay connected with a wide network of educators to be sure I am creating the best experience for my students and their families. *** HERE ARE SOME REVIEWS FROM PAST CLIENTS *** although they could not post reviews through University Tutor, here is what some parents and observers have to say: " This letter is to attest the level of professionalism and effectiveness of educational support received from Lauren Albert. I hired Ms. Albert to provide tutorial service for my son that suffers from ADHD. Ms. Albert did such an amazing job with my son who attends Pacific Collegiate School and now in his sophomore year at PCS. He struggled with the basic study skills needed to navigate a pre-collegiate curriculum and was failing several core classes in his 8th and 9th grade years. Upon receiving referrals from other parents at PCS, I was given Ms. Albert’s name. Her level of experience working with students that have learning disabilities gave me great comfort knowing that she would be effective in working with my son to achieve his educational goal. My son received tutorial help from Ms. Albert about twice a week the first year and the following year she reduced the time to added support when needed for exams. My son’s grades rose from a C- average to an A average. The techniques Ms. Albert used to help my son study have been the foundation that he needed to be successful. He no longer stress’ about school work or exams and has the level of confidence that he lacked for some time. If your child suffers from a learning disability or needs assistance with study skill, I would highly recommend Ms. Lauren Albert for the job. Best, PCS Parent"
