EducationI am currently enrolled at Cabrillo College, my GPA is a 3.7. I have received an AA in Spanish from Cabrillo. I am a math/computer science major. I was recently accepted to Berkeley's College of Letters and Science where I plan on studying a combination of mathematics and computer science.
I have studied math, economics, philosophy, Spanish, computer science and some physics.
ExperienceI have worked for 3 years as a Math Tutor at Cabrillo College with the MLC. My experience and ability lead to me bring promoted to lead tutor. Part of being a tutor at the MLC involves a training course on tutoring during which we practice best methodology for tutoring. Some of my responsibilities at the MLC include training new tutors and ensuring that everyone is learning as well as they can.
I scored a 32 cumulative on the ACT and am good at test-taking; I am happy to help people with test-taking strategies.
Tutoring is a very fulfilling job for me, as I love helping people and I take great pride in my work. I love that moment when my tutee exclaims, "I get it!" Tutoring is an excellent way for me to use my skills to directly give back to my community and help other people reach their goals. I am able to tutor every math class offered at Cabrillo. I can assist with financial math, statistics, calculus, differential equations and linear algebra. I took discrete math at Cabrillo, a course that focuses on methods of proofing important to computer science; it focused especially on inductive proofs.
I have limited physics experience, and can help with mechanics primarily. This includes waves, centripedal motion, and angular studies.
I have studied both micro and macro economics completing both courses with an A grade. I have studied four years of Spanish grammar and a conversational course. I studied Spanish abroad in Oaxaca.
Before studying math and computer science, I was a philosophy major. I have taken logic, critical thinking, ethics, introductory philosophy and non-western philosophical traditions.
