Experience
I tutored at the University Writing Program at UCR. I helped students whose test scores indicated that their English reading and writing skills were not quite at the college level yet. My job was to equip these students with learning tools they would need to succeed in future English classes. I worked individually with 18 students over the span of this course. By evaluating each student's individual issues with style, grammar, and essay structure, I created practice exercises geared toward improvement. Although these students were required to attend tutoring as part of the class curriculum (and some were reluctant), I ensured a 90% passing rate within course. I have worked with kids ages 5-10 as a summer camp leader on two occasions, and am currently working part-time as a camp leader at the LGS Recreation Center. This included semi-educational activities such as art instruction, and teaching children how to play games of varying complexity. I am comfortable tutoring children of all ages. I am happy to tutor ESL regardless of the student's first language, with the condition that the student knows enough English or Hebrew (my two fluent languages) for very basic communication.
