Education

2009 BA in Mathematics from University of California, Santa Cruz. 3.83 GPA Graduated Cum Laude with Highest Honors and Porter College Honors. 2011 MA in Mathematics from UCSC. I am currently a sixth year graduate student, Ph.D. Candidate in the Mathematics Ph.D. program at UCSC.

Experience

I have six years of math tutoring experience. I worked as a tutor for all lower division undergraduate math at UCSC for three years, and also as a math reader/grader for four years. For the past two years I have been working as a teaching assistant, holding classroom sections for calculus and linear algebra. As a teaching assistant, I have the experience of not only working with a classroom of students as a whole, but also individually in office hours. I love teaching in general, whether it is a classroom full of students or just an individual. I find it to be a very rewarding experience for me, and I have a lot of fun helping others understand mathematics. I also find that by teaching, I also learn something. I have received excellent and good evaluations for working as a teaching assistant at UCSC. View my teaching evaluations here: http://people.ucsc.edu/~fytabing/evals.html

Hobbies

I love fashion and clothing so I sew and make a lot of my clothing. I also make and sell hair accessories on the side. I find sewing and creating things as a way of taking the stress out of my studies. I have done two fashion shows at UCSC, one show consisted of 19 outfits, the other 11 outfits, entirely designed and constructed by me. I also love vintage fashions, so one of my favorite things to do is to go to the UCSC library and check out tons of books on vintage fashions and designers and look at all of the photos. I am interested in the arts and paint, illustrate, draw, and make collages occasionally. You can learn more about me by visiting my UCSC personal webpage: people.ucsc.edu/fytabing and by visiting my personal design website: www.kamimonodesign.com
